Wellgrove Farm Stables offers horse riding lessons in Kent (we are near Tunbridge Wells) for adults and children of all standards, from beginner to advanced.
We specialise in dressage training and in particular the formation of novice partnerships, both horse and rider, and their progression. We also offer novice jumping lessons.
We have a long history of teaching children to ride, and this is represented by our large commitment to being a Pony Club Branch centre. Most of the population of Pembury seem to have had links to Wellgrove at some time.
Group and private riding lessons
Our horse riding lessons are taught in small groups for children and privately for adults and are gauged towards ability and ambition. Riding lessons vary hugely from pre-school riding lessons for ages 3-5 years and specialist dressage lessons using the “Goggin method” (see www.adressagemethod.co.uk for full details of this).
Our riding school horses
Riding lessons are taken on either our own horses, or one of the many horses with us in training livery. All these horses are aspiring towards various goals as part of the riding school. You can find out about them in our horse and pony profiles.
Safety equipment
We supply hats to current PAS015 standard and also boots if necessary, but if you have boots with a small heel, a sturdy sole and no fastenings (eg buckles, velcro) these may be suitable and worth bringing along. Other clothing needs to be comfortable and practical – please take off any jewellery! Please note that jeans can restrict easy movement, so tracksuit bottoms and leggings are generally better. Long sleeves are also preferable.
Rider registration form
All new riders taking riding lessons at Wellgrove need to complete a rider registration form. You can download and print yours here and bring it with you, or fill one in when you get to the riding school.
