Wellgrove Farm Stables’ riding instructors and staff

Emma Whittaker

Chief Instructor Emma Whittaker BHSII and UKCC Level 3.  Emma has run the yard since 2002 and has a passion for putting together novice horse and rider combinations. She is also addicted to tricky horses and hopes that as she gets older sanity may take over and she will grow out of it.

Currently Emma’s daughter Red has taken up most of her competition time but hopefully Vinny and Spider will begin to progress at Elementary dressage and perhaps overtake her old horse George’s fantastic placing at the Nationals in 2010 and Mickey will begin his jumping career. Watch this space.

Megan Bruce

Instructor – BHS Stage 1 and UKCC Level 1. After putting horses on hold for a bit, Megan has been back teaching and riding for a while now. Megan hopes to complete her PI this year and is heavily involved in our RDA centre. Megan particularly enjoys schooling the new younger horses and teaching the novice children to progress with confidence.

Lucy Landymore

Apprentice Instructor – BHS stages 1 and 2 and National diploma Level 2. Lucy has just begun her second apprentice year, studying for her level 3 diploma specialising in schooling and coaching, and she hopes to complete her PI this year. Lucy particularly enjoys competing, particularly show jumping and is a great favourite amongst the lead rein and just off the lead rein riders.

Sophie Gower

Groom – ABRS Level 4. Sophie has been with us a number of years and is an efficient and reliable yard organiser. Sophie has recently taken up riding again after years of being happy only on the ground, so it will be interesting to see where this takes her in the future.

Denise Spicer

Denise Spicer – Yards. Dee has the unenviable task of working early mornings and mucking out. She is always amazingly cheerful and efficient.
